Argon EON NAS Removed
Well something didn’t look quite right, I was checking OpenMediaVault and it showed that /dev/md0
is “clean, degraded”.
Asked ChatGPT, my new assistant, what it meant. It said that it means that one of the drives is not in the RAID 1 setup (which means that it’s not really RAID 1).
OK, how do we find out?

That’s not good. One is removed, the other (/dev/sdb
) is active sync.
Back to ChatGPT then. How do I restore this?
Since the /dev/md0
device was created like this:
$ sudo mdadm --create --verbose /dev/md0 --level=1 --raid-devices=2 /dev/sda /dev/sdb
To restore:
$ sudo mdadm --manage /dev/md0 --add /dev/sda
Then to monitor the progress:
$ watch cat /proc/mdstat
And when it’s done, run this again:
$ sudo mdadm --detail /dev/md0
Let’s give it a go, what have I got to lose other than 70GB of files I really need?
It looks like this:
